Expectations
I cannot stress enough the importance of communication between students, parents, and teachers. I want my students and parents to feel comfortable informing me about concerns related to academics, mental health, bullying, etc.

Please email me with any concerns, upcoming absences, questions, etc.
Homework/Due Dates
All homework should be recorded in your child's planner. We fill this out together as a class at the end of the day so they learn personal accountability. They will have reoccurring grades for the following:
Reading: 20-30 minutes 5/7 days of the week. They'll write how long they read in their planner and you'll initial each record as proof of their honesty.
Math: 15-20 minutes a night, or an average of 1 hour and 15 minutes a week, on iReady. I will check their minutes on Ready's teacher portal.
Grades - Skyward
Reading: grades will be given at the end of each month; your child’s grade is determined by how much time they spend reading.
iReady: grades will be given biweekly; your child’s grade is determined by how much time they spend on iReady.
Wonders and Vocabulary Weekly Tests: grades will be given every Friday.
**Missing work will be recorded in Skyward for you and your child to log in and view. You'll also be notified via email when an assignment is marked as missing**
Important Policies
They will have one day for every day they are absent to complete their work. We conduct most of our business first thing in the morning, so if your child is tardy, he/she will often miss important instructions.
Grading policies will comply with district guidelines. Our school uses the Standards-Based Report Cards. The grading will be on a scale of 1-4.
The school policy about electronics in class is that they are not allowed. Students may have them in their backpacks turned off, but should not be used during the day. If a student uses them at an unauthorized time, they will be confiscated.
