About Me

I started teaching at Belmont Elementary in 2019. During my first year of teaching, I was the recipient of the “Most Likely to be Mistaken for a Student” award from Belmont's faculty. Hopefully, my young looks will help me age well.

I was born and raised in Oklahoma. I lived in Oklahoma all my life until I decided I wanted a change of scenery for college. I moved to Idaho and completed my undergrad at BYU-Idaho. After, I moved to Utah and student taught at a Title I school in Ogden. Finally, I moved to American Fork and called Utah home.

My husband and I met while I was off-track from BYU-Idaho. He grew up in Sandy, Utah with all the benefits the mountains bring. Seeing that Oklahoma offers very little in the "Outdoor Recreation" category, it was a no-brainer to move to Utah. We dated for five years and got married in October of 2021.

Since I am from Oklahoma, I love the Oklahoma Sooners. My dad taught me the phrase, "Sooner born, and Sooner bred. When I die, I'll be Sooner dead." I often get asked if I like the OKC Thunder, and I still do even though I think they aren’t as good since all of their star players left.

I have enjoyed teaching 6th grade, and I’m grateful that I found a welcoming faculty and team to work with. Belmont feels like family to me. 6th grade has been my favorite grade to teach since they’re independent, starting to discover who they are, are loving and compassionate, and are capable of having deep discussions.

I’ve wanted to be a teacher ever since I was in elementary school. I loved my elementary teachers because I knew they cared about me. I was always drawing them pictures and giving them hugs to make them smile. I truly love teaching because I love kids. I plan to teach until I’m too old and forced to retire.

Each year I strive to help kids feel loved, push kids to grow more than they knew was possible, and open kids' minds to different opportunities. I believe that a child is more likely to succeed if they have a positive attitude and keep trying. I also believe that a child is more likely to learn in an environment where they feel safe to fail and where they feel loved.
